Area High School Rodeo Stars Compete in World’s Largest Rodeo

Six of District 7’s (Ventura – SLO County) California High School Rodeo competitors earned a spot on the team going to Nationals, the 2018 NHSFR – the world’s largest rodeo, July 15 – 21, 2018 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. 15 Local Jr. High Rodeo Contestants Qualify for Nationals

Members of our SLO County Jr. High rodeo community were among the 25 contestants which California High School Rodeo Association, District 7 (Ventura-San Luis Obispo Counties), sent to the State Finals held in Red Bluff, California May 16-19, 2018. 15 Jr. High Rodeo Stars from CHSRA District 7 qualified for the Nationals. The most common complaints when young are riders experiencing horseback riding through Ag Adventure Camp are a horse not going or turning. Many riders start out simply being passengers. We have successfully converted many of these riders from passengers into effective horseback riders in 15 minute sessions using three techniques working mostly at the walk. Sharon Jantzen shares her three steps to converting a passenger to a horseback rider in 15 minutes.
