SLO Sheriff’s Posse : Vital to Our Community

Lyle Thomas is absolutely hooked on being a part of the SLO Sheriff’s Posse unit. He recognizes the unique team approach the horse offers to the Search and Rescue operation. “The horse is the first to sense something different. Horses have more acute vision, hearing and scent and seem to know when someone is up ahead before we do.” Sharon Jantzen meets up with Lyle at a local event and brings us the excitement, fun and camaraderie of the SLO Sheriff’s Posse unit.

Come Out and Join the Fun : CMA Poker Ride at Montana de Oro

The annual Poker Ride at Montana de Oro State Park, held over Columbus Day weekend, invites equestrians from throughout the state to join the Coast Mounted Assistance for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun. Camping begins at noon on Thursday October 6th through Monday October 10th. The Poker Ride is held on Sunday, October 9th.

Julie Monser recounts her night evacuating horses from the Sherpa Fire. Sharon Jantzen captures her experience.
