Six of District 7’s (Ventura – SLO County) California High School Rodeo competitors earned a spot on the team going to Nationals, the 2018 NHSFR – the world’s largest rodeo, July 15 – 21, 2018 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Members of our SLO County Jr. High rodeo community were among the 25 contestants which California High School Rodeo Association, District 7 (Ventura-San Luis Obispo Counties), sent to the State Finals held in Red Bluff, California May 16-19, 2018. 15 Jr. High Rodeo Stars from CHSRA District 7 qualified for the Nationals. My daughter and two of her friends were my Wrangler assistants at Ag Adventure Camp this year, where I am the Horseback Riding Director. We worked hard, played hard and helped campers improve their riding skills. Grooming, saddle lifting, feeding and mucking were all part of the experience. Of course, we still made time for games, conversations and a few shenanigans here and there. Sharon Jantzen shares the joys of a summer horse camp experience.
