Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items

Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items | SLO Horse News

Although we are all thankful for the much-needed rain, many of us have felt house-bound and horseless during this wet winter season.  But never fear, the spring riding season is near!  Think Spring! Green hillsides, spring flowers, and that long-awaited scent of sweet horsey sweat mixed with fresh air…there’s really nothing like being back in the saddle after the winter.  The sun will return – for good – shortly, and the Central Coast will again be a rider’s wonderland.

Think Spring!

We don’t need Punxsutawney Phil to tell us if Spring will be here soon, one swipe with the curry comb tells us that. My kids used to lament “Shedding Season” as they experienced the rain of horse hair while helping me with my horse.

These “Must Have” Items Will Help You With That Shedding Dilemma

  1. Sleek Ez

Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items | SLO Horse NewsWhat’s better than a curry comb, more comfortable than a shedding blade and better than a body brush for removing all that shedding hair? A Sleek EZ shedding blade!

The Sleek EZ shedding blade fits comfortably in your hand and removes a massive amount of loose hair at once. It is also effective year-round at removing hair and dried sweat from saddle blankets and pads.

  1. Horse Shave Razor

Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items | SLO Horse NewsThe sleek beauty of your horse’s summer coat will soon appear.  Top-off the sleekness by clipping the facial hair easily and safely with a Horse Shave Razor.

Ditch the noisy clippers and scary scissors, and get a great whisker clip with a disposable Horse Shave Razor. Perfectly designed to follow the many contours of the horse’s muzzle the Horse Shave Razor quietly and easily removes muzzle and face whiskers.

Get double use out of the Horse Shave Razor. Keep the used ones around for easy bot fly egg removal in the Summer.

Spring means it’s time to load up and go. The show circuit may be calling us or getting away from it all horse camping or trail riding at home, whatever the endeavor we’ll find ourselves out and about. These products will keep your horse and you hydrated.

These “Must Have” Top Picks are for the Rider on the Go

  1. H2Go Water to Go

Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items | SLO Horse NewsShow season, horse camping and trail rides will soon have us outside enjoying our horses even more often.  Carrying full water buckets with straining muscles, the handles pulling on my fingers the heavy buckets bumping my knees and water sloshing on my pants and shoes are memories of my horse show past. Getting water to horses while at shows, horse camping or even at home, when there is no hose, the hose breaks or isn’t long enough, can be a daunting task.

Not so with the H2Go Water to Go water carrier. This clever tool fits in a wheelbarrow and is aided by a non-slip mat to keep it in the wheelbarrow. The spout is perfectly designed for pouring as you tip the wheelbarrow forward. It’s so easy that the kids will actually want to bring water to the horses!

  1. Camel Back Hydration System

Think Spring: Must Have Horse Items | SLO Horse NewsSpeaking of horses and water…what about us riders when we’re out on the trail?  Even though it’s hard to imagine now, sometimes it can get pretty hot when we’re out on a long trail ride, and carrying bottles of water is just a pain.

The Camel Back Hydration Backpack has been in use for years by hikers, bikers, and athletes of all sorts, so it’s about time for equestrians to get in on the game.  The backpack will hold 1.5 liters of water and has an easy to stow flexible hose/straw to drink from that won’t leak.  An added bonus, add some ice or some super cold water and the Camel Back will keep you cool!

Now is the time to start thinking Spring. Get yourself ready to enjoy more time with your horse. Have these products on hand and you’ll enjoy your horses even more.
