Former Pony Clubber, Eventer and Dressage rider who balanced training and showing with getting a college degree (from Cal Poly SLO), becoming a wife and raising a family. Presently she is making Dressage comeback on her Connemara Pony Whisper as well as dabbling in Mounted Archery on a Rocky Mountain Gaited Horse, Carrera.

The idea of letting go of any animal is difficult, but with a horse, things can be particularly devastating. When a horse and rider truly become partners, the ending of that partnership is painful, and, let’s face it, it’s just not as easy to logistically plan for a dignified death with an animal of such size. Sharon Jantzen interviews a Sara Ruggerone who tells us her story of her beloved Arabian, “Huey”.
“There I was alone on the side of the road with a flat trailer tire and my horse in the trailer,” my friend recounted her recent experience to me. “My cell service was weak and my husband was not available right away, and my brother couldn’t come help either.” Sharon Jantzen helps us not find ourselves in this situation.
