It’s Happening at the Western States Horse Expo This Weekend!
The sun is finally shining in Northern California and everyone’s anxious to get outside. Lucky for horse lovers, the 13th annual Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento is happening this weekend, June 10-12, where horses will be strutting their stuff and an incredible clinician line-up is ready to educate, entertain and perform.
The clinician line-up is stellar, with John Lyons, Jonathan Field, Mike Major, Ken McNabb, Charles Wilhelm, Richard Winters, Charlotte Bredahl — and a host of other headliners.
This year attendees will have the opportunity to test drive a new Dodge or Ford truck — and even try one with a new Sundowner trailer attached!
Friday’s spotlight includes the final competition of the Magnificent 7 stock horse challenge, along with the awarding of the 2011 Horse Expo Hall of Fame honor to Bob Avila.
On Saturday afternoon Dave Hammond will be bringing down the gavel on the sales of 120+ quality horses, including the 2007 colt that Richard Winters rode in the 2010 Road to the Horse competition. On Saturday night, wonderful aromas will be wafting from the Santa Fe Barbecue in the Wrangler Arena, where diners can spend their evening with clinicians in an up-close-and-personal setting.
Singer Templeton Thompson will perform at the barbecue too, making it a perfect evening.
Kids will be in their glory at the Young Rider Park, where activities will be available all day, including fingerpainting live grey Arabian horses!
For these three exciting days, folks will have a once-a- year opportunity to shop for everything they can imagine, from trailers, trucks, tractors, barns, clothing, boots and saddles — and so much more. Many of the clinicians will have their DVDs and customized tack at their booths too.
So find your way to sunny California and enjoy the 13th annual Western States Horse Expo!
