Friday : Schooling Your Horse and a Campout

Beginning Friday afternoon, August 9, riders are invited to bring their horses to the Park for schooling access in the competition arenas featuring world-class GGT footing and competition-style jumps. Friday evening is open and free to the community to settle into the Park’s iconic Adirondack chairs and enjoy a horse movie while grubbing on s’mores and snacks. The fun continues into the night as all are invited to bring along their tent to camp out and prepare for an education-packed day to follow.

Saturday : Two Educational Tracks

Saturday will be filled with equine education beneficial for all riding levels. Two educational tracks are targeted for varying levels of horse experience.

Introduction to the Horse

Introduction to the Horse is a no-horse-required opportunity for those with limited to no equine experience. Attendees of this educational track will learn about Horse Safety 101, share what horses mean to them, and enjoy presentations from 4H and Pony Club as they learn how to make the passion for horses a regular treat.

Preparing to Show & Learning More

The Preparing to Show & Learning More track is for those that have been riding and are looking to take their horse knowledge to the next level. While attendees are welcome to bring their horse, they will learn just as much if they need to leave their four-legged friends at home. This educational track will feature lessons on off-track thoroughbreds’ second careers, mini horses and driving, key learnings from meeting with a Park judge, and tips on navigating a course. Finally, this track will round out the day with a discussion on concussion safety and helmet fittings.
